Meditation for Focus and Connection

One of the best things we can do for ourselves is to belong to ourselves. However, with so many external factors vying for our attention, it takes a conscious effort to explore the truth of ourselves. This is where the practice of meditation can help us, the operative word being “practice” because it requires consistency. Meditation harnesses the power of the mind. It helps create clarity, focuses energy, promotes discipline and provides a refuge while we seek the answers to the questions we have in life.

The benefits of meditation are well documented by ancient mystics and modern practitioners. This healing redirects your thoughts to a quiet place, learning to focus on how we feel. It allows us to be honest with ourselves to see where we are in life and obtain clarity for the journey ahead.

Meditation and Mindfulness

What is Mindfulness, and what is its place in the practice of meditation? Imagine all the things we respond to throughout the course of a day without any intentional thought, those ingrained behaviors we have developed which allow us to function in a world of stimulation overload.

Mindfulness is the flip side of that coin. It is the act of deliberate intent. These deliberate actions most strengthen the mind, allowing us to exercise greater control over our thoughts and well-being. Meditation is one of the most excellent tools available to achieve that mindful state.

My Journey with Meditation

My experience with meditation allowed me to increase my self-awareness, be present, and let go of any negative emotions that I held about myself. Meditation helped me to create the person I believed myself to be. To do so, I needed to learn to quiet all the noise around me. Through meditation, I created the stillness I needed to examine all the negative thoughts, worries, and perceptions I carried and believed about myself.  To see a clear path without ego, to this true version of me.

While on that road of self-realization, I found self-acceptance and inner-peace. I found clarity to understand the confusion I carried for so long, strength and courage to re-create and discovery the world around me, and patience to love and connect with others. Ultimately, accepting the changes I needed to make towards enlightenment.
